Vihiluoto - seafront and bird tower

The Vihiluoto area is known for the rich birdlife of Kempeleenlahti, which is visited by international and national birdwatchers.

The Vihiluoto Village Association has built an accessible nature trail with a bird tower, a football and skating rink, a skate ramp, a 7-lane frisbee golf course, beach volleyball courts, a beach and a pond on the shore of Vihiluoto for the summer. Water jets can be hired from the marina during the summer.

In winter, weather permitting, the village association makes ski trails to the sea, as well as a hiking trail between Vihiluoto and Oritkari.

At the tip of Vihiluoto is the atmospheric seaside restaurant Vihiluoto Torppa, with live music nights, a sea terrace and karaoke nights. Vihiluodon Torpa also has sauna facilities and a lot with a sea view. Beach volleyball courts are directly behind the sea terrace.

First on the right on Vihiluodontie is Finlandia Airport Hotel Oulu, the first airport hotel in the Oulu region, just four kilometres from the airport, surrounded by beautiful nature by the sea. The Airport Hotel's car park is the starting point of Vihiluoto's accessible nature trail and the hotel has its own hut in the courtyard, where groups can dine on request.
